What is Self-Defence?
Clue - it's not all about fighting ...
The art of self-defence is primarily about avoiding physical confrontation. The focus is therefore about how to recognise threats at the earliest opportunity. If conflict can then not be avoided, simple tactics - from verbal and non-verbal methods, to physical defence and restraint - are taught to equip practitioners with all the skills and confidence they need to survive any situation.
Self-defence tuition can comprise the following:
-
Situational awareness
-
Conflict management and deescalation
-
Survival strategies
-
The effects of emotion in situations of extreme stress
-
Tactics and techniques for dealing with physical confrontation
